SEACOM Went Live today…Now What?

SEACOM Overview

SEACOM African Undersea Cables

After reading the news I almost dropped my morning ‘chai’ and awaited further confirmations from my fellow African bloggers. Whiteafrican blogged a piece on “reactions“, whereas Appfrica blogger Joshua Goldstein blogged about “Fung Fu“.

Joshua blogged “In the corner of a conference room, Peter Moreton, a procurement manager for SEACOM, beckoned me over to a display computer with YouTube queued up. We launched Kung Fu baby and for the first time in Africa, I saw a YouTube video load completely and play in 6 seconds. We ran a speed test and showed 1.8mbps, 10x what we have in the Appfrica office.”

Now what? That is the question. What do we do from now. Is the dream of a silicon valley in Africa going to be realized?
Lets see what happens.

A New Endevor

// June 10th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Africa, Marketing

Over the past few months I have been getting actively involved with the African tech scene and the time has almost come for me to launch the website associated with this endeavor. A company has been born and it is time for it to spread its wings and fly. A tentative launch date has been set for June 24th. Which is also the day Transformers 2 will be released. I am a huge Transformers fan, not to mention a huge Megan Fox fan too.

mashAfrica sole mission is to be technology incubator for Tech Startups and Mashups in Africa, our base will be in Lusaka, Zambia. We are seeking full time bloggers as well as programmers to help us fulfill our mission.

Please visit the site http://mashAfrica.com to join the mailing list and be invited to the exclusive web unveiling on the 24th of June 2009.
